Actor Shakti Arora rose to fame with Colors' Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, and since then, there has been no looking back for the handsome lad.
Shakti, who was recently in the news for his alleged breakup with fiance Neha Saxena, has been touring Indonesia and picking up projects there.
But the actor came back to Mumbai for a special occasion - to celebrate his Nanaji's birthday.
Shakti's grandfather is none other than veteran filmmaker, Chandrashekhar Vaidya. The legendary filmmaker turned 95 on July 7 and Shakti headed back to the bay to celebrate this special day.
Revealed Shakti, "I was shooting in Indonesia and I am so happy that I am back in India. I am thrilled that I am here to celebrate his birthday. For me and for the industry, he is a legend. The whole industry respects him for his work both, as a producer and as an actor. In fact, many people don't know but he was the one who introduced the dance form, Cha Cha Cha in Indian films through his movie titled in the same name back in 1964."
Chandrashekhar has acted in films such as Surang, Sharaabi, Kati Patang and Ajnabee among others.
Shakti says that he feels special to have got the privilege to carry on the legacy of his grandfather. "I feel so privileged to be able to carry on his legacy. Even if I am able to do ten percent of what he has done in his career, I will be satisfied," he says.
Infact, many don't know but Chandrashekhar did not want Shakti to get into films.
"He was hesitant initially as he felt that I should follow a more secure profession. But he is now happy with the space I have made for myself in the industry. His entire bungalow is full of my pictures and articles. It makes me feel so overwhelmed," Shakti avers.
Adding further, he quips, "The best compliment that my grandfather has given me is that I am a very natural actor. Plus he also tells me that I have maintained myself well."
That is a high compliment for Shakti, especially when it is coming from his Nanaji who is a veteran and a highly intellectual filmmaker!
